Day 1: Arrival in Paro - Transfer to Thimphu

Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, you'll be greeted by our representative, introducing you to the mesmerizing kingdom of Bhutan. Your journey to Thimphu, Bhutan's capital, begins with a scenic drive through winding mountain roads, offering glimpses of lush valleys and traditional Bhutanese villages. En route, you'll pause at the Tamchog Lhakhang Iron Bridge, a historic bridge spanning the Paro Chhu River, built by the revered saint Thangthong Gyalpo. After settling into your hotel in Thimphu, the rest of the day is yours to unwind and acclimate to the peaceful ambiance of the city. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

 

Day 2: Thimphu - Punakha/Wangdue via Dochula Pass

After breakfast, your exploration of Thimphu begins with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa dedicated to world peace and prosperity. You'll then marvel at the grandeur of the Buddha Dordenma statue, one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, followed by a tour of Tashichho Dzong, a majestic fortress housing the throne room and offices of the king. Your cultural journey continues with a visit to the Folk Heritage Museum, offering insights into Bhutanese rural life. Later, embark on a scenic drive to Punakha/Wangdue via the picturesque Dochula Pass, where 108 chortens (Buddhist shrines) stand against the backdrop of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Overnight stay in Punakha/Wangdue.

 

Day 3: Punakha/Wangdue to Paro

After breakfast, your journey takes you back to Paro, with a memorable stop at the historic Simtokha Dzong. This fortress-monastery, built-in 1629, is known for its intricate wood carvings and statues. Upon reaching Paro and checking into your hotel, immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Bhutan at the Ta Dzong National Museum, which houses an impressive collection of Bhutanese art, relics, and historical artifacts. Day 4: Hike to Taktsang

Rise early for an exhilarating hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery (Tiger's Nest), Bhutan's most famous pilgrimage site. This challenging 2-3 hour trek takes you through pine forests adorned with prayer flags, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Paro Valley below. As you approach the monastery, listen to the gentle chants of monks and the cascading sounds of waterfalls echoing through the cliffs. After descending, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most sacred temples, dating back to the 7th century and known for its ancient murals and intricate architecture. Return to Paro for a peaceful overnight stay.

 

Day 5: Paro - Departure

Our team will assist you with your check-out and transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
