This private tour takes you through the Historic Caves & Backwater of Kerala, starting with a Mumbai city tour and a visit to Elephanta Caves. You will then explore Aurangabad's Ellora and Ajanta Caves before flying to Cochin to enjoy a Kathakali dance performance. In Munnar, you'll visit tea estates, reservoirs, and a dairy farm, and then proceed to Thekkady for a wildlife sanctuary boat ride and spice plantation tour. The tour ends with a backwater cruise on a houseboat in Alleppey before departing from Cochin.
Day 1: Arrival in Mumbai
Upon arrival in Mumbai, you will be transferred to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day free for personal activities. Overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Mumbai City Tour
After breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a city tour of Mumbai. Your tour will include a visit to Marine Drive, the Gateway of India, and a ferry ride to Elephanta Caves. You will also drive past Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and the Parliament House before visiting Dhobi Ghat and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3: Mumbai - Aurangabad (flight)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight to Aurangabad. Upon arrival, you will visit the Ellora Caves, Grishneshwar Temple, and Daulatabad Fort. You will also visit Bibi ka Maqbara, Panchakki, and Aurangabad Caves. Overnight at hotel.
Day 4: Aurangabad Excursion to Ajanta Caves (100kms one way)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will take an excursion to the Ajanta Caves. These caves are known for their exquisite paintings and sculptures that depict the life of Buddha. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Aurangabad - Cochin (flight)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight to Cochin. In the evening, you will enjoy a Kathakali dance performance. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6: Cochin - Munnar (140kms)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit Fort Cochin, St. Francis Church, the Jewish Synagogue, and Mattancherry Dutch's Palace. Afterward, you will drive to Munnar. You will visit a tea estate and participate in a tea tasting. Overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Munnar Sightseeing
After breakfast at the hotel, you will visit Pothamedu, the Mattupetty dam and reservoir, Rajamala, the Mattupedi Dairy Farm, Echo Point, and the Tea Museum. Overnight at hotel.
Day 8: Munnar - Thekkady (110kms)
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Thekkady via Ramakkalmedu, a wind farm generating electricity, and visit Frog Rock, Turtle Rock, and the highest twin-statue in Kerala called Kuravan & Kurathi. Continue the drive to Thekkady and check in at the hotel. In the evening, attend a Martial Arts & Kathakali Dance show. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 9: Periyar - Kumarakom (140kms)
Begin the day with a boat ride to explore the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, home to elephants, bison, sambar deer, tigers, and various species of snakes and birds. Afterward, take a spice plantation tour to see crops of cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, and coffee. Visit the local market and pick up some fragrant spices. Later, drive to Kumarakom, check in at a backwater resort, and spend the night.
Day 10: Kumarakom - Alleppey (30kms)
After breakfast, transfer to the Alleppey boat jetty to board a houseboat and sail through the backwaters. While sailing, enjoy the scenic views of palm-fringed narrow canals, paddy fields, and hamlets lined along either side of the canals. Alleppey is known as the Venice of the East due to its canals, backwaters, and lagoons. The houseboat will have a separate bedroom with attached English toilets, sitting cum dining area, sun deck, fully loaded kitchen, and a chef and driver. Enjoy a sunset view from the sun-deck of the houseboat. Spend the night on the houseboat.
Day 11: Alleppey - Cochin (60kms)
After breakfast, disembark from the houseboat and drive to Cochin airport to catch a flight for your onward destination.
