Embark on a private tour to explore the wild beauty of Assam with the "Safari & Cruise in Assam" itinerary. Begin with a visit to Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before embarking on a Brahmaputra cruise. Witness silk weaving workshops and visit sacred shrines while cruising upstream, before exploring Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and Kaziranga National Park on jeep safaris. Explore Majuli Island and Sivasagar's ancient monuments before concluding your trip in Dibrugarh.
Day 1: Arrive Guwahati (flight)
Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located approximately 150km away. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Manas
Start your day with an early morning breakfast at the hotel before proceeding for a morning safari in Manas National Park. Return to the hotel for lunch and then head out for an afternoon safari. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Manas - Guwahati (150kms)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Guwahati to join the ABN Charaidew or ABN Sukapha cruise boat. Enjoy lunch on board as you set sail downstream towards Viajynagar. Dinner and overnight stay on the cruise boat.
Day 4: Brahmaputra Cruise
Today, you will cruise upstream to the town of Sualkuchi, known for its silk weaving workshops. After a visit to the workshops, drive to Hajo and visit a Muslim shrine and a Hindu temple. Return to the cruise boat and sail to an overnight mooring near the Saraighat War Memorial. All meals and overnight stay on the cruise boat.
Day 5: Brahmaputra Cruise
After breakfast, disembark at Pandu docks for a short sightseeing tour of Guwahati. Visit the Kamakhya Temple located atop Nilachal Hill and the Commonwealth War Graves cemetery. Later, cross by country boat to the mid-stream Peacock Island to see golden langur monkeys. Return to the cruise boat and sail on to Kurua. All meals and overnight stay on the cruise boat.
Day 6: End Cruise
Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary - Kaziranga National Park (200kms/ 4hrs)
Cruise past jungle-covered hills and turn into the Mayong River. After breakfast, disembark the cruise and use a country boat to cruise to the road-head before entering the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary by road. Enjoy a jeep safari in the sanctuary before driving to Kaziranga National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7: Kaziranga National Park
Begin your day with an early morning jeep safari in Kaziranga National Park followed by breakfast at the hotel. Afternoon jeep safari in the park. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 8: Kaziranga National Park
Today, enjoy two jeep safaris in Kaziranga National Park - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 9: Kaziranga - Jorhat (100kms/ 2hrs approx)
After breakfast at the hotel, leave Kaziranga and drive northeast along the Brahmaputra River to Jorhat where you will stay for two nights. Jorhat is known for its tea plantations and is a great base to explore nearby Majuli Island. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 10: Jorhat - visit Majuli Island
After breakfast, drive to Neematighat for a one-hour ferry ride to Majuli Island, a World Heritage Site located in the Brahmaputra River. Explore the island's traditional architecture, birdlife, and monastic retreats. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or with a local family before returning to Jorhat in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 11: Jorhat - Sivasagar - Dibrugarh (150kms/ 4hrs approx)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will embark on a drive to Sivasagar, a historical town known for its ancient Ahom monuments, tanks, and temples that encompass the 600-year-old history of the Ahom dynasty. You will visit the Shiva Dol, one of the tallest Shiva temples in India; Rang Ghar, an amphitheatre and one of the earliest pavilions of its kind in Asia; and Sivasagar Tank, a man-made lake built in the 18th century. From here, you will continue your drive to Dibrugarh, the gateway to the 'hidden land' of Arunachal Pradesh. Lunch, dinner & overnight at hotel/ resort.
Day 12: Dibrugarh
After breakfast at the hotel, you will set out to explore Dibrugarh, a picturesque town situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. You will visit the historic Chowkidinghee Maidam, the burial site of the Ahom kings; Dehing Satra, a 15th-century monastery known for its unique architecture and cultural significance; and the lush green tea gardens, for which Dibrugarh is famous. You can also indulge in some shopping at the local markets for souvenirs and handicrafts. Lunch, dinner & overnight at hotel/ resort.
Day 13: Dibrugarh - Departure (flight)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and transfer to Dibrugarh airport as per your flight schedule to board a flight for Delhi/ Mumbai/ Kolkata.
