The stepwell was originally constructed as a water storage system but later evolved into a subterranean temple dedicated to the sanctity of water.
Explore the Panchasara Jain Temple in Patan, a beautiful temple complex known for its elaborate carvings and rich history. The temple, dedicated to Lord Parshvanath, the 23rd Tirthankara, is an important pilgrimage site for Jains. The detailed artwork and serene ambiance make it a spiritual and architectural wonder.
Continue your journey to Modhera and visit the impressive Modhera Sun Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to the Sun God, Surya. Built in the early 11th century by King Bhima I of the Chalukya dynasty, the temple complex features a grand assembly hall, a sacred stepwell, and the main temple adorned with exquisite carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology.
